How to Dehydrate Cinnamon Apple Snacks
I always try to source the cheapest apples I can whenever making these, to keep the costs down. I have found a local source where I can get them for $0.99 per kilogram, which is very handy.
The condition of the apples isn’t too important. As long as they aren’t totally old or bruised, you can cut off any parts that are a bit past it. But in general, I leave them as they are, as once dehydrated, you can’t tell the difference between a beautifully fresh apple and one that is a little wrinkly.
Slice the apples
You can definitely slice these apples with a sharp knife, but I prefer to get it done efficiently by using our apple corer/slicer. Here is a link to the same one that I use. If using a sharp knife, you will also need a corer to be able to remove the core fully.
I prefer not to peel the apples, as there is extra value to eating the skin, but if you prefer, you can also peel before slicing.
The thinner your apples are sliced, the quicker they will dehydrate and the crunchier they will be.

Sprinkle apples with cinnamon
Lay out the slices on dehydrator trays in a single layer & sprinkle with cinnamon. The amount of cinnamon that you sprinkle onto each slice is totally up to you. Our family loves a lot of cinnamon, so we are pretty liberal with the amount.
Dehydrate cinnamon apple snacks
Place the dehydrator trays into the dehydrator (here is a link to the dehydrator that I have been using for 3+ years) and set it to 50 degrees Celsius and dehydrate for at least 10 hours (depending on the humidity and temperature of your environment). After the original 10 hours check to see if the slices are crispy. If they aren’t crispy enough, set the dehydrator again to run for another 2 hours at a time until fully crisp.
Store in airtight container
Once completely dried, store in an airtight container for up to 6 months (if they last that long).
Dehydrated Cinnamon Apple Snacks
Equipment
- Apple corer/peeler
- Sharp knife
- Apple corer
- Dehydrator
Ingredients
- 10 Apples we prefer Gala or Pink Lady
- 3 tbsp Cinnamon ground
Instructions
- Using your apple corer peel, core & slice all apples. Once sliced, use a sharp knife to cut once through the apple “spring” to turn it into multiple rings.
- If you don’t have an apple corer/peeler, use a sharp knife and apple corer to peel, core and thinly slice the apples.
- Lay all apple slices out on your dehydrator trays.
- Sprinkle liberally with cinnamon. Add as little or as much cinnamon as suits your tastes.
- Place your dehydrator trays into your dehydrator on 50 degrees Celsius for at least 10 hours. The duration required will depend on the temperature and humidity of your environment. You will know they are done by removing one slice and letting it cool and making sure it has a snap to it. If they aren’t yet completely dehydrated, continue at 50 degrees Celsius for another 2 hours at a time until totally dried out.
- Once completely dried, put into an airtight container and set aside for a week to ensure they are completely dry.
- After a week, if they aren’t clumping together when the container is shaken, then you know they are definitely fully dehydrated.
- You can now go ahead and enjoy these crisp snacks anytime you like.
Notes

I tend to make a batch of these snacks once every 6 weeks or so but could probably do it almost once every 3 weeks. These disappear very quickly in our house.
