With Christmas just around the corner most of us are looking for some fun and thoughtful gifts for our loved ones.
If someone in your life is a homesteader, and you just can’t decide what to get them, I’m here to help!
Finding the perfect gifts for your loved ones can be a little overwhelming at times. Knowing who they are, what they are interested in and also what they may already have, can definitely help find them something amazing.

My Favourite Homesteading Gifts
Below I will list my favourite items that would make amazing gifts this Christmas. Some are items that I am lucky enough to already have, whilst others are items that are on my wish list.
Gifts for Homemaking Homesteaders
Ceramic Mixing Bowls
Vintage ceramic bowls can make all the difference in the kitchen by adding in some nostalgia.
Finding them in an op shop or on Facebook Market Place can turn this gift idea into a frugal one also. I found my collection in op shops & online for only a few dollars each.
If you aren’t able to find vintage, there are some amazing “dupes” of the vintage styles out there like these.

Complete Book of Home Preserving
A lot of the time, when you are a homesteader, you are also a homemaker and love to do all things frugal.
Finding ways to save money and also be a little more self-sufficient is something that runs deep in our community.
Along with growing our own food where possible, preserving large harvests or bulk buys is a great way to live a more frugal life.
If your loved one is a fan of canning food, then this book is one for them.
Food Dehydrator
Another option for food preservation, dehydrators are a cheap-ish way to get going in the food preservation realm.
I started off with dehydrating everything I could get my hands on, and creating all types of amazing staples for my pantry that I no longer have to buy from the shop.

Vintage-Inspired Apron
Cooking from scratch generally means getting covered in food!
Not only is it delicious, nutritious and a lot of fun, it can also get quite messy.
Saving your clothes by wearing an apron like this one can make a big difference to the longevity of your clothing.
Grain Mill
If your homemaking homesteading friend is anything like me, they have now started making their own sourdough. We all eventually fall down that rabbit hole!
Gifting them a grain mill can help further this newfound obsession. Milling grain as needed ensures that all of the beneficial nutrients are maintained unlike when using flour purchased already milled.
There are many different types of grain mills including attachments for mixers, hand cranked mills & electric ones. They all serve the same purpose but in different ways & at different price points.
I have recently been lucky enough to be gifted a grain mill as an early Christmas present but am forcing myself to wait until Christmas to use it. Check back soon for an update on how I’m going with swapping over to fresh milled flour.
Gifts for Outdoorsy Homesteaders
Tipper Cart
I never knew how handy such a small change would be before bringing in a tipper cart in replacement of a wheelbarrow.
This cart is amazing! It can carry quite a heavy load, and the unloading of it saves your back by just releasing the tipper function and everything comes out super easy.
We have used ours to cart large stones from one side of the property to the other when building our garden beds, for mixing soil & compost together before tipping into said garden beds & also for pulling the kids around the yard.

Planner
Keeping tabs on all of the balls in the air can be a big task for everyone.
But throw into that running a homestead you need to keep track in a way that gets the information out of your head an on to paper to save your sanity.
Using a planner like this one, can make all the difference.
Record garden data (such as planting & harvesting dates & data), note down when to plan in projects & keep track of events so that your mind can rest.
Homesteading Books
There’s an endless number of homesteading books available these days.
If there is a particular genre you are looking for, such as raising chicken, permaculture or self-sufficiency, there is a book out there for you to find.
Some of my outdoorsy favourites are:
- The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies
- The Milkwood Permaculture Living Handbook
- Practical Self Sufficiency

Power Station
Homesteading and off-grid capabilities sometimes go hand-in-hand.
Having backup power options for when there is a natural disaster or other issue which limits access to power, means that life can carry on almost as normal.
A power station such as this Bluetti Power Station can come in handy in this type of situation.
DIY Gifts for Homesteaders
Who doesn’t love a homemade gift from the heart? Below is a list of some ideas that some fellow bloggers have shared with me. Please go and visit their sites and let them know I sent you!
Honey Spoons
This is a fun little DIY gift idea from Barbra-Sue at Kowalski Mountain Homestead using 4 simple ingredients you would most-likely already have at home.
Creating Honey Spoons that you use to stir honey into your cup of tea, which are easy to transport as the honey has been turned into a hard candy.

Tallow Body Butter
Violet at Right at Home with Violet shares here how she makes her own Moisturising Body Butter out of beef tallow, avocado oil & essential oils.
Beef tallow is an amazing product for skin care as it closely resembles our own skin’s natural oils, providing beneficial fatty acids and vitamins.

Salt Dough Ornaments
A great choice of DIY gifts that you can create with your children or even with friends on a relaxing Sunday.
Use native flora to create individual Salt Dough Ornaments as shared by Jillian at Sprouting Arrows.

While these are just my favourite items, there are so many more that would make any homesteader or homemaker beam with joy on Christmas morning.
If there are items you would love to share with other readers, please add them to the comments below so that we can all find more amazing gifts for our loved ones this Christmas!
